speeroX

“How can we improve a worm gear set? Or is it even possible to replace multi-stage gearbox concepts with a single gear set?” These questions were the starting point for developing our novel speeroX gearing. We developed and engineered numerous alternatives, subjecting them to extensive testing. The solution that convinced us was a variant that still relies on a worm but relocates the gearing to the flat side of the worm wheel. This gearing offers significant advantages over conventional right-angle gear drives in terms of power density, noise reduction, and service life. It also enables applications that traditional worm gear sets cannot handle due to space constraints or efficiency issues. We call this technology speeroX and offer it as a custom-engineered development and manufacturing solution.

Advantages of speeroX technology

Compact design

With speeroX, the wheel gearing is located on the flat side, inherently reducing the distance between the input and output shafts. This allows for gearbox designs that are significantly more compact at comparable performance levels.

High power density

Compared to a worm or helical gear set, more teeth engage simultaneously in speeroX gearing. This increases the load capacity of the gearbox design, allowing it to transmit higher power or handle greater loads within a comparable installation space.

Low noise levels

With speeroX, the rolling and sliding components are well balanced. The favorable sliding effects result in significantly quieter gear meshing than comparable spur or bevel gear drives, which predominantly involve the rolling action of the teeth.

High energy efficiency

The kinematically optimized meshing conditions of speeroX gearing reduce friction. This enables a high level of efficiency, resulting in energy-efficient right-angle gearboxes – especially compared to traditional worm gear sets.

Application examples for speeroX gear sets

speeroX is the optimal solution for applications where space and efficiency are key requirements. With speeroX, you can implement extremely compact gearboxes for transmitting high torques – a solution that is not achievable with other gear types.

speeroX in robotics and medical technology

In robotics applications, the power density of the gearboxes plays a crucial role in addition to high positioning accuracy and durability: It determines how compact the robot can be built. speeroX is ideally suited to the requirements of this demanding application area. In medical technology, an additional benefit is of particular interest: The low noise emission allows robots using speeroX gear sets to be quiet, high-performance partners for operating teams.

speeroX in conveyor technology

Industrial continuous conveyors typically operate around the clock. For this reason, durable, low-maintenance, and energy-efficient drive components are critical. The tooth profile of speeroX gear sets can be specifically optimized for continuous operation in a preferred direction. This minimizes energy losses while increasing the overall efficiency and service life of conveyor systems.

speeroX in automotive applications

The requirements for seat adjustment systems, power windows, and other comfort drives in the automotive sector are clear: They should be lightweight, quiet, and powerful at the same time, ensuring vehicles offer high dynamics and a high level of comfort. speeroX gear sets are ideal for this application because their increased power density allows high loads to be transmitted within a compact installation space. The metal-plastic pairing also helps optimize the weight of the actuators.

speeroX in intralogistics

Drive components and systems in intralogistics must meet demanding requirements in terms of dynamics, service life, and energy efficiency. After all, industrial trucks, stackers, and electric forklifts are expected to operate for as long as possible without unplanned downtime. speeroX gear sets can be specifically designed to meet these requirements. The result is reliable, robust drive systems that, thanks to their compact design, open up additional possibilities for further vehicle development.

speeroX in surgical microscopes

Surgical microscopes must provide surgeons with precise, stable maneuverability. This requires drive solutions that combine reliability, smooth operation, and precise handling. The speeroX gear set utilizes a durable steel-on-steel material combination to guarantee precise and permanent positioning. Balanced sliding characteristics minimize operating noise, which is a key advantage in the sensitive environment of an operating room. At the same time, the compact design allows for space-saving integration, while the efficiency-optimized configuration enables effortless system operation.
