Tool design and toolmaking at Framo Morat

We don’t just develop gearing parts for you, we also engineer the corresponding injection molds. This allows us to consider injection molding-appropriate component design from the beginning. We consider draft angles and gate locations, as well as warping and shrinkage behavior, right from the development phase.

In-house toolmaking

Everything comes together in our toolmaking department: Numerous molds and tools for precision plastic injection molding are produced directly in-house. We also take care of maintenance, servicing, repairs, and corrective work.

Strong Network

In addition to this, we have a large network of partners, which we are gradually expanding in line with market requirements and our experiences. This enables us to respond to increased demands for precision, time-to-market, and costs. We manage the projects from our headquarters in Eisenbach and take care of project management. In addition, we define all processes for design, sampling, and measurement. We map out the relevant work steps and trades with selected external partners.

Short response times

This offers you numerous advantages: We can provide production-oriented component design, including Moldflow analyses, as well as tool design to suit the materials and geometry. Our streamlined process significantly not only reduces response times when it comes to sampling, measuring, and making corrections, but also for changes and maintenance. We can produce prototype tools for the development of new gear systems using 3D printing technology, which significantly speeds up the development process.

High-performance machinery

In our mold and tool making department, we have a large number of high-precision machines at our disposal, including CAD/CAM systems, CNC lathes and milling machines, 5-axis milling centers, and wire and die-sinking EDM machines. This enables us to manufacture tools in sizes ranging from 270 × 270 mm to 820 × 820 mm.
