Linear actuators from Framo Morat

Lifting, lowering, pushing, or positioning – wherever motion needs to be linear rather than rotary, linear actuators are the solution of choice. They provide high forces in the smallest spaces, enabling precise movement of loads and reliable process automation.

Framo Morat, Inc. is the official North American partner of GROB Antriebstechnik, a German company that designs and manufactures electromechanical linear drive solutions. Our GROB product range includes the MINI and Linear Chain product series.

We also have many years of experience in the development of customer-specific linear drives and offer you technically sophisticated and economically convincing drive solutions for your application.

Where would you like us to help you achieve powerful, efficient, and precise motion?

Linear actuator series "MINI"

When every millimeter counts, the MINI Actuator delivers. This compact and versatile drive combines powerful performance with minimal installation space, ensuring low operating costs, long service life, and flexible use across a wide range of applications — even under demanding conditions thanks to its stainless materials.

Push/pull actuator series "Linear Chain"

When installation space is limited, Linear Chains offer the perfect solution. They enable linear motion with compressive forces up to 35 kN and travel distances exceeding 10 meters (≈ 33 ft) — all thanks to their innovative retractable chain design that combines high performance with compact efficiency.

Custom linear actuators

When standard solutions reach their limits, our custom linear actuators take over. Whether you need compact designs, high dynamics, or exceptional lifting forces, we develop and manufacture individual drive systems that perfectly match your requirements — combining technical precision, cost efficiency, and our proven expertise.

Application examples

Whether in facade automation, solar tracking, food processing, packaging, or intralogistics, linear actuators ensure precise and dependable movement under demanding conditions. Their robust design, flexible configuration, and custom adaptability make them the ideal solution for a wide range of industrial applications.

Custom-designed for you

Custom linear actuators

Do you have special requirements for a linear actuator? Do you need compact dimensions, high stroke speeds, or large lifting forces that cannot be achieved with standard solutions?

If so, Framo Morat is your reliable development partner, offering system expertise, many years of experience, and extensive in-house manufacturing capabilities. We can develop the drive system for your application – either by modifying existing modules with newly designed components or by creating a completely new custom-engineered solution.

In each case, we create linear actuators that combine technical sophistication with economic efficiency based on your requirements and design priorities.

For which application should we develop your linear drive?

Possible applications for our linear actuators

Food technology

Due to their enclosed design, spindle actuators are particularly suitable for use in hygienic environments. Their stainless steel housings are resistant to aggressive cleaning agents and disinfectants, and are protected against high-pressure cleaning jets (IP65). Thanks to their compact design, they can be used for a wide variety of motion tasks: such as adjusting conveyor belts and filling systems, operating flaps on silos and mixers, regulating bulk material flows, and much more.

Construction machinery

In construction cranes, a spindle actuator releases the brakes for the wind-release system. In strong winds, the crane must be able to turn freely in the direction of the wind, like a weather vane, to minimize air resistance. If this is not possible, there is an increased risk of enormous wind forces acting on the structure, which could compromise its stability and, in the worst case scenario, cause the crane to tip over. Thus, the small drive assumes a safety-critical role here, one that requires utmost precision, reliability, and durability despite its compact size.

Automation

A compact design, low-maintenance operation, easy integration into industrial control systems, and precise movements with high repeatability: In automation technology, electromechanical spindle drives are a smart alternative to pneumatic and hydraulic systems. As a result, their range of applications is broad: In this case, the spindle drive precisely adjusts film rolls in the packaging industry.

Intralogistics

Push/pull actuators move heavy loads through tension and compression using high-precision components. The chains are made of tempered steel and can operate at ambient temperatures of up to 550 °C – with short-term exposure to temperatures of up to 1,050 °C. This makes push/pull actuators ideal for motion and positioning tasks in foundries, rolling mills, and industrial furnaces. In the image shown, batches for heat treatment are being loaded into and removed from a furnace using a LinearChain push/pull chain system.

Transport logistics

Push/pull actuators can transmit pushing and pulling forces of up to 35 kN. This enables large loads to be moved both vertically and horizontally with high positioning accuracy. In the logistics sector, this technology is used in container movers, for example. There, they transfer 7.45-meter-long semi-trailers from truck to train – and vice versa – in just a few minutes.

Building technology

Spindle actuators are used in building applications, such as adjusting sunshade systems and opening and closing windows, and many other motion applications. And with good reason: They operate quietly and require minimal maintenance, they consume very little energy and space, and they enable precise movements via building management systems. Additionally, their stainless steel housing and minimalist design allow them to blend seamlessly into a wide range of architectural environments.
