Framo Morat’s linear actuators
Lifting, lowering, pushing, or positioning – wherever motion needs to be linear rather than rotary, linear actuators are the solution of choice. They provide high forces in the smallest spaces, enabling precise movement of loads and reliable process automation.
Framo Morat has many years of experience developing custom linear and push/pull actuators, and offers technically sophisticated, economically efficient drive solutions for your applications.
Where would you like us to help you achieve powerful, efficient, and precise motion?
Linear spindle actuators
Your advantages
- Very high lifting forces up to 26 kN
- Flexible range of applications due to compact design
- Wide range of applications thanks to stainless materials and IP65 protection rating
- Complies with EU food hygiene requirements
- Lower operating costs due to minimal maintenance
The linear spindle actuators in the Mini series enable precise and repeatable positioning with high forces. Powerful hollow-shaft motors enable the required lifting force to be achieved in a very compact design. These compact linear actuators are therefore ideal for use in confined spaces.
Despite their compact and lightweight construction, the spindle-type lifting gears are extremely robust and durable. With lifetime lubrication, rustproof materials, and IP65 sealing, the drives are specifically designed for use in adverse conditions.
The Mini series is particularly recommended for use in the food industry. Its round, compact design prevents dirt pockets, and it can be cleaned even with high pressure and hot water. This ensures that the spindle drives comply with EU Regulation (EC) No. 852/2004 on food hygiene.
The standard range of the Mini series is distributed by Grob Antriebstechnik . You will also find support here if you need service or spare parts.
Which application would you like us to design your linear spindle actuator for?
LinearChain push/pull actuators
Your advantages
- Push forces up to 35,000 N
- Ideal for achieving long strokes, especially in confined spaces
- Compact chain storage, including multi-lane configurations
- No rebound under load
- Maintain absolute positioning
- Smooth, jerk-free motion
- Synchronized operation for horizontal or vertical movements
With the LinearChain push/pull actuator, you can achieve linear motion with both tensile and compressive loads over lengths of more than 10 meters (with the guided version). The push/pull chain system consists of specially shaped, high-precision mechanical links. These links can be coiled in one direction; in the opposite direction, they stiffen. This allows large loads to be moved with minimal play and high positioning accuracy.
With appropriate guide rails, the chain can be extended to any length, independent of available raw material lengths. In a chain magazine, the chain can be rolled up behind the drive to save space.
The push chain operates smoothly even under extreme temperatures. It is designed to operate reliably at low and high temperatures, up to 550 °C (special versions up to 1,050 °C). This makes it suitable for demanding environments where other systems fail.
The standard range of the LinearChain series is distributed by Grob Antriebstechnik. You will also find support here if you need service or spare parts
Which application would you like to implement using push/pull actuators?
Custom linear actuators
Do you have special requirements for a linear actuator? Do you need compact dimensions, high stroke speeds, or large lifting forces that cannot be achieved with standard solutions?
If so, Framo Morat is your reliable development partner, offering system expertise, many years of experience, and extensive in-house manufacturing capabilities. We can develop the drive system for your application – either by modifying existing modules with newly designed components or by creating a completely new custom-engineered solution.
In each case, we create linear actuators that combine technical sophistication with economic efficiency based on your requirements and design priorities.
For which application should we develop your linear drive?
Possible applications for our linear actuators
Food technology
Due to their enclosed design, spindle actuators are particularly suitable for use in hygienic environments. Their stainless steel housings are resistant to aggressive cleaning agents and disinfectants, and are protected against high-pressure cleaning jets (IP65). Thanks to their compact design, they can be used for a wide variety of motion tasks: such as adjusting conveyor belts and filling systems, operating flaps on silos and mixers, regulating bulk material flows, and much more.
Construction machinery
In construction cranes, a spindle actuator releases the brakes for the wind-release system. In strong winds, the crane must be able to turn freely in the direction of the wind, like a weather vane, to minimize air resistance. If this is not possible, there is an increased risk of enormous wind forces acting on the structure, which could compromise its stability and, in the worst case scenario, cause the crane to tip over. Thus, the small drive assumes a safety-critical role here, one that requires utmost precision, reliability, and durability despite its compact size.
Intralogistics
Push/pull actuators move heavy loads through tension and compression using high-precision components. The chains are made of tempered steel and can operate at ambient temperatures of up to 550 °C – with short-term exposure to temperatures of up to 1,050 °C. This makes push/pull actuators ideal for motion and positioning tasks in foundries, rolling mills, and industrial furnaces. In the image shown, batches for heat treatment are being loaded into and removed from a furnace using a LinearChain push/pull chain system.
Building technology
Spindle actuators are used in building applications, such as adjusting sunshade systems and opening and closing windows, and many other motion applications. And with good reason: They operate quietly and require minimal maintenance, they consume very little energy and space, and they enable precise movements via building management systems. Additionally, their stainless steel housing and minimalist design allow them to blend seamlessly into a wide range of architectural environments.
Transport logistics
Push/pull actuators can transmit pushing and pulling forces of up to 35 kN. This enables large loads to be moved both vertically and horizontally with high positioning accuracy. In the logistics sector, this technology is used in container movers, for example. There, they transfer 7.45-meter-long semi-trailers from truck to train – and vice versa – in just a few minutes.
Automation
A compact design, low-maintenance operation, easy integration into industrial control systems, and precise movements with high repeatability: In automation technology, electromechanical spindle drives are a smart alternative to pneumatic and hydraulic systems. As a result, their range of applications is broad: In this case, the spindle drive precisely adjusts film rolls in the packaging industry.
