Drives for air conditioning and facade technology

Building facades and air conditioning systems must be functional, durable, and aesthetically pleasing in equal measure. Drives in this environment are permanently exposed to wind and weather and must combine maximum reliability with an unobtrusive design. Framo Morat offers robust yet elegant solutions that ensure energy efficiency and comfort in modern building operations.

Drive solutions for folding arms and chain drives for opening windows and doors

SIMON PROtec has been developing innovative, electrically powered smoke and heat extraction systems for preventive building fire protection for many years. At the heart of these systems are powerful folding arms and chain drives that reliably open and close windows and doors.

A worm/spur gearbox optimally designed for the application reduces the motor speed to the desired speed. With up to four stages, the gearboxes enable a high transmission ratio. The particularly flat design allows the gearboxes to be integrated into the slim aluminum profiles in a space-saving manner. At the same time, they ensure smooth running and optimum torque in daily use.

The specifically designed gear geometry ensures optimum efficiency and precise, low-noise rolling of the gear components. In the first stage, a worm gear already achieves a high transmission ratio and deflects the rotational movement of the motor shaft by 90°. This is followed by flat spur gear stages, which provide the required final torque for moving windows and doors.

The development by Simon Protec was carried out in close cooperation with Framo Morat. As a technology and product partner, the company contributed its expertise in gear technology and optimized the components in terms of load capacity, smooth running, size, and weight.

The advantages at a glance:

  • Flat design: Can be integrated into slim aluminum profiles.
  • Smooth running: Quiet and even operation for everyday use.
  • Optimal torque: Reliable opening and closing of windows and doors.

Rack and pinion drives for slatted facades

For adjusting large-area facade elements, Framo Morat offers rack and pinion drives made of corrosion-resistant materials that impress with their durability and resilience. The award-winning Kraanspoor office building in Amsterdam uses 1,320 of these drives, which reliably move facade elements and sun louvers while also meeting architectural requirements.

Compacta MS12 for facade louvers

A Compacta MS12 controls the adjustment of the sun louvers on a facade. The movement is reliably transmitted to entire louver segments via a linkage and a rack. Thanks to its compact and attractive design, the drive could be integrated directly into the visible area—without additional cladding or structural modifications. This results in a solution that is both economical and aesthetically pleasing.

Lifting spindle drives for glass facades and smoke and heat extraction systems

Robust lifting spindle drives control the opening and closing of large glass fronts for air conditioning in large buildings. In smoke and heat extraction systems (SHE), our drives also ensure reliable operation even under extreme conditions such as heat and smoke. The low-maintenance design allows installation even in areas that are difficult to access. Thanks to their compact design, they can be integrated inconspicuously and guarantee safe operation in an emergency.

Limit switch units

Our limit switch units are a precise and reliable drive solution for the exact, repeatable adjustment of switch-off positions. They are used in automation systems for sun protection and building technology, among other things. Thanks to their high dimensional accuracy, low wear, and temperature resistance, they guarantee long-lasting, low-maintenance operation and ensure consistent precision and operational reliability throughout their entire service life.
