Drive technology for the private sector

In the private sphere, comfort, everyday practicality, and ease of use are paramount. Smart homes and smart offices require compact, quiet, and networked drives—for example, for height-adjustable tables, roller shutter and shading systems, or quiet, reliable document shredders. In household and kitchen technology, precise drive solutions in fully automatic coffee machines, household robots, and kitchen appliances ensure comfort, durability, and ease of use. In addition, there are drives in micromobility and leisure technology, such as in e-bikes and fitness equipment, where lightweight construction, noise optimization, and energy efficiency are crucial.

Worm Gear Sets for SKIDATA sMove Gates

SKIDATA access control systems in mountain sport destinations stand for smooth and convenient entry for all visitors. They are engineered to adapt to every season and ensure reliable operation under extreme weather conditions, including transitions between winter and summer use. Parking systems likewise depend on consistently trouble-free entry and exit processes as well as seamless payment procedures. For this reason, SKIDATA designs all parking and mobility solutions to deliver a smooth user experience combined with robust and reliable hardware.

Framo Morat worm gear sets were specifically developed to meet these requirements as compact drive units for the sMove Gates. They enable high gear ratios in a single stage and transmit torque through a 90° deflection, allowing space-saving integration into the gate design. The gear sets are engineered for long service life and consistently stable operation. Uniform force transmission ensures low-noise performance while supporting high efficiency for smooth motion sequences in continuous daily operation.

For outdoor applications, the components are designed to be weather-resistant and are manufactured in corrosion-resistant stainless steel versions. This guarantees consistent functionality under moisture, temperature fluctuations, and seasonally changing conditions. In addition, the robust overall design provides high resistance in the field, even when systems are exposed to mechanical stress due to intensive use or vandalism. To ensure reliable rotation to both the left and right, the worm gear sets are produced in left-hand and right-hand configurations.

Gears and gear components for coffee machines

Our plastic gear components are used in the motorized brewing unit, consisting of a gear frame and brewing head, in professional fully automatic coffee machines for the catering industry. The ground coffee is fed from the grinder into the brewing sleeve and compacted. Hot water is then introduced and mixed with the coffee. The coffee is dispensed via the brewing outlet piston. Once the brewing process is complete, the brewing unit moves to the ejection position and returns to its starting position after the coffee has been ejected. In addition, a plastic worm gear/spur gear stage is used in fully automatic coffee machines for private households. The gear set controls the electric valve adjustment for water distribution.

Customized worm gear sets for satellite adjustment

This satellite system is ideal for those who travel to remote locations and value satellite reception with maximum convenience. At the touch of a button, the satellite antenna starts a fully automatic search, identifies the satellite within seconds, and transmits the desired program. This is ensured by innovative swivel head technology, in which only the head of the antenna rotates while the body of the antenna remains fixed. The precise, low-backlash worm gear sets from Framo Morat provide reliable service and guarantee angle-accurate positioning. The innovative swivel head technology offers the following advantages: reduced power consumption, less space required, and lower mechanical stress.

Gear components for document shredders

In the drive system for the cutting mechanism of a wide variety of industrial document shredders, our hybrid gears made of plastic and metal are subjected to extreme loads, especially in the event of jamming. The heavily loaded element in the cutting mechanism is made of metal and overmolded with a plastic gear. This combines the advantages of both materials: metal absorbs peak loads and provides resistance, while plastic dampens shocks, saves weight, and ensures smooth operation. Gear components made of the high-temperature plastic PEEK are also frequently used. These can withstand high thermal and mechanical loads. This is important in the event of blockages, when the cutting mechanism is subjected to extreme forces for a short period of time. In addition, PEEK gears are resistant to lubricants, dust, and paper residues, giving them a very long service life.

Plastic gears for table height adjustment

Ergonomics is becoming increasingly important in modern working environments. Lifting drive units allow tables or workstations to be individually adjusted in height, thereby promoting comfort, productivity, and the health of users. At the heart of these systems are precision plastic gear components that reliably convert the speed and torque of the drive motor into a smooth lifting motion. The use of a 2K plastic spur gear is particularly advantageous here. The harder material ensures high dimensional stability, precise power transmission, and a long service life, while the softer material reduces noise and vibration in the gearbox. This allows working positions to be adjusted quickly, quietly, and comfortably – whether for changing body sizes, different activities, or alternating between sitting and standing.

Wheelsets and gear components for micromobility

The advantages of combining metal and plastic are particularly evident in e-bike motors. The high-precision spur gear stage, consisting of a helical metal rotor shaft and a plastic gear wheel, ensures weight savings on the one hand and smooth running and a long service life on the other. Our gear components are also used in the battery. The screw-on plates fit tightly onto the battery contacts, providing reliable protection against moisture, dirt, and corrosion at the sensitive connection points. During the manufacturing process, the flame-retardant plastic material is fed to the tool in a fully automated process and all stamped and bent parts are completely overmolded. This ensures that the screw-on plates meet the high stability requirements and are free of visual defects.

Underfloor cover systems for swimming pools

Pool covers reduce heat loss and evaporation, simplify cleaning, and increase safety for people and animals in private swimming pools. Underground roll-off systems for pool covers are installed underwater and must therefore be completely watertight for years to come. For this demanding application, Framo Morat has developed a special tubular motor that is double-sealed using AQUASEAL technology and is therefore corrosion-resistant and maintenance-free in the long term. The PoolCoverDrive with integrated three-stage hybrid planetary gearbox delivers a transmission ratio of 1000:1 with an output torque of 300 Nm.
