Framo Morat will once again be contributing its development and manufacturing expertise to Formula Student in the 2026 season. This year, we are supporting two university teams—the Running Snail Racing Team from OTH Amberg-Weiden and Schanzer Racing Electric from TH Ingolstadt—by supplying high-precision gear components for their race cars.

We have had a long-standing partnership with the Running Snail Racing Team since 2015. For the current generation of vehicles, Framo Morat manufactures gear components for the connection between the powertrain and the wheel assembly. These include the star shaft, drive shaft, pinion, intermediate gear, and actuator pinion. The optimized gear teeth make an important contribution to efficient power transmission in the vehicle. As a result, the new race car makes it possible for the first time to combine autonomous and mechanical steering.

For the first time this season, we are also supporting Schanzer Racing Electric. Framo Morat contributed its expertise in gear design early on during the development of a stepped planetary gearbox for the race car’s drivetrain. The key gear components—sun gear, stepped planetary gear, and ring gear—were subsequently manufactured at our headquarters in Eisenbach. The sophisticated gearbox was designed to reliably transmit high forces while minimizing weight, a critical factor in racing.

Formula Student offers aspiring engineers the opportunity to bring innovative vehicle concepts to life under real-world development and competition conditions. For Framo Morat, this involvement is also an opportunity to share knowledge and work with students to develop sophisticated technical solutions.

In the 2026 season, the teams will compete in various Formula Student competitions across Europe. We wish Running Snail Racing and Schanzer Racing Electric the best of luck in their upcoming races and are keeping our fingers crossed for a successful remainder of the season.
