Accessibility: Curved stairlift drive
The curved stairlift drive developed by Framo Morat consists of three individual drive units: The main motor ensures the lift’s upward and downward movement, the seat swivel drive makes the lift easy to get on and off, and the drive for tilt correction keeps the seat in a horizontal position on varying inclines. We have been supporting our customer TKE Home Solutions with this drive system across several product generations.
Medical technology: Two-component mixing device
The Pentamix mixing device from 3M is designed for dental applications. It dispenses and mixes two viscous, paste-like substances at the push of a button, in the correct ratio and desired quantity. We have completely redesigned the drive system for the new product generation. The result speaks for itself: The new drive is quieter and more compact, yet twice as powerful as its predecessor.
Intralogistics: Drive unit for double-skid system
With its innovative autonomous double-skid system, Filics relies on two independently operating units and is thus revolutionizing pallet transport. The highly integrated drive units developed by Framo Morat for this application deliver exceptional efficiency, handling loads of up to 800 kg at speeds of 1.2 m/s. With their omnidirectional control and unique pass-through function, the “Filics Units” optimize warehouse automation and material flow. Decisive factors in the decision to collaborate with Framo Morat included the company's expertise in the hub gear and wheel hub drive market segment and its decades of experience developing and manufacturing custom-engineered drive systems.
Agricultural machinery: Adjustment unit for tractors
The adjustment unit allows the desired PTO gear ratio to be adjusted directly from the driver’s seat. The electronics, electric motor, planetary gears, bevel gears, and encoders are combined into one compact unit. The encoder provides a high number of pulses per revolution and indicates the position of the output shaft via its own reference output. Integrated electronics evaluate the signals and provide feedback to the tractor.
Rehabilitation device technology: Motorized motion rails
When mobilizing the shoulder after surgery, maximum precision is essential since sudden or jerky movements can cause severe pain for patients. That’s why we developed customized worm gears with a total backlash of less than 1.5° for the shoulder mobility splint. They replicate the natural movement patterns of the shoulder and enable pain-free rehabilitation.
Energy technology: Tracking of collectors
Drives for adjusting large facade elements are exposed to wind and weather around the clock, so they need to be extremely robust and durable. A total of 1,320 custom-designed rack-and-pinion drives from Framo Morat are used in the award-winning, 270-meter-long “Kraanspoor” office building in Amsterdam’s port. They are fully sealed and manufactured exclusively from corrosion-resistant materials. Since they also look really good, they are particularly suitable for architecturally sophisticated facades.

Energy technology: Control valve drives
Control valve drives come in a wide range of sizes and applications – from small, domestic versions for radiators to large-scale use in district heating networks. Due to the varying requirements for travel ranges, actuation forces, speeds, and valve connections, a custom-engineered drive solution is often the best option. For these applications, we typically rely on gearing components and housings made of plastic: These enable quiet, maintenance-free operation and provide significant cost advantages in series production. We manufacture gearing components and housing parts, we assemble them, and we use our testing procedures to ensure that each drive meets the required performance specifications.
Food technology: Fully automatic coffee machines
Great morning coffee often starts with a Framo Morat drive system. In lots of professional fully automatic coffee machines, they compact the coffee powder before brewing, and after brewing they move the brewing unit into the release position and discharge the spent coffee grounds. Due to the confined space, high temperatures, and humidity, custom-engineered drive solutions made from food-safe, corrosion-resistant materials are ideal for these applications.
Medical technology: Stair climber
Stair climbers are easy to attach to wheelchairs and help transport wheelchair users weighing up to 160 kg up and down stairs. Since this application demanded extremely smooth operation and high performance, particular attention was paid to the quality of the gear components. For the manufacturer, the guaranteed quality was the decisive factor that led them to select Framo Morat as their gear unit supplier.
Leisure and camping: Caravan mover
Truma caravan movers are among the sector's most powerful, fastest, and most reliable drives. To maneuver the caravan, the drive roller is positioned against the tire by means of the tilting unit. As soon as the full contact pressure of around 6,000 N is applied, the main motor starts actuating it through a three-stage spur gear, thus setting the caravan in motion. Truma movers clearly demonstrate the competitive advantages that can be achieved with custom-engineered developments – especially when very high torques are required in tight mounting spaces.
