Prototypes

Prototypes enable the drive concept to be tested before series production begins. We produce prototypes in-house. This significantly shortens the development time. Together with the customer, we check whether the solution we propose has all the desired characteristics.

From digital to real

Thanks to our customer-specific drive solutions, which we always develop and design according to your requirements, we have our own in-house department for prototype construction, called project manufacturing. The developed drives are produced in small series, tested together with the customer, and optimized for series production. Close and rapid communication between our customers and numerous departments also accelerates prototype construction.

3D printing

With the help of rapid prototyping processes (3D printing), it is possible to quickly manufacture near-series components and thus test risky components at an early stage. The design and function of the prototype is identical to the later series product, except for minor differences.

  • FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) – melting of material layers
  • Construction size: 254 mm x 254 mm x 305 mm
  • Materials: Model material ABSplus, support material dissolvable special plastic
  • Max. tolerance deviation: 0.24 mm
  • Construction space temperature: 80°C
  • Nozzle temperature: 300°C

Five-axis milling machine

Framo Morat manufactures gear, precision, and drive technology. To strengthen the drive technology business unit and accelerate the availability of prototypes, an additional five-axis milling machine from Grob was purchased, which is used exclusively in project manufacturing.

  • Motor spindle: 160/223 Nm, 25/35 kW, 16,000 rpm
  • Tool magazine: 40 tool positions
  • Pallet load: max. 380 kg
