On 16 September 2021, 38 companies and administrations from Freiburg and the districts of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald and Emmendingen were awarded the ‘MobilSiegel – klimafreundlich zur Arbeit’ (MobilSiegel – climate-friendly to work) seal for their commitment to sustainable mobility.

Freiburg's Lord Mayor Martin Horn, the Chief Administrative Officer of the district of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald Dr Martin Barth and District Administrator Hanno Hurth presented the certificates and prizes to the companies at the administrative building of Freiburger Verkehrs AG (VAG).

The award ceremony was held at the invitation of the three districts and VAG, which presented the seal on behalf of the city of Freiburg. "The MobilSiegel is a joint contribution by the city and the districts to climate protection in the region. I am delighted that this issue is so important to companies in the region. The Mobility Seal makes the companies' commitment visible and also recognises it," emphasised Freiburg's Lord Mayor Martin Horn at the award ceremony. Martin Barth also underlined that sustainable mobility is the right lever for reducing traffic-related emissions and is delighted that so many companies from the region have been recognised for their innovative ideas and projects, thus setting an example for other companies.

The award is based on various measures taken by employers to support their employees in climate-friendly mobility. These include, for example, (co-)financing the JobTicket or the option to lease a bicycle for commuting, participation in campaigns such as City Cycling, information on how to reach the workplace safely and easily using climate-friendly means of transport, and benefits for using electric vehicles or cargo bikes.

The Franz Morat Group is delighted to have been awarded 4 out of a maximum of 5 green leaves. The evaluation was based on factors such as charging stations for electric vehicles, the expansion of the vehicle fleet to include climate-friendly means of transport, and the active promotion of mobile working and video conferencing.

Background: The MobilSiegel was awarded for the first time this year by Freiburger Verkehrs AG on behalf of the city of Freiburg and in cooperation with the districts of Emmendingen and Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald. The seal thus ties in with the former eco-transport seal of the ‘AG Umweltfreundlich zum Betrieb’ (Environmentally Friendly Business Working Group), which could no longer be continued for several years due to staffing reasons.
